INVESTIGATOR
Investigators are employees of the Medical Examiners Office. The Investigator is responsible for opening up a Medical Examiner case and investigating the case to help determine the cause of death. Investigators may also help with the Attendants duties in intake and releasing the bodies and property.
Certifying Scientists
Certifying Scientists are contractors for the Medical Examiners Office. The Certifying Scientists are responsible for certifying the toxicology results for toxicology and certifying the instruments used.
Administrator
The Administrator is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Medical Examiners Office which is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death in any violent, sudden, unexpected, suspicious or otherwise unexplained death, inclusive of all jail deaths and deaths in police custody.
Toxicology
Forensic toxicologists are scientists who are responsible for testing bodily fluids and tissue samples during autopsies looking for the presence of drugs and chemicals. Toxicologists may testify in court regarding laboratory test results, procedures and operations.
Histology
The Histologists are laboratory professionals responsible for applying proper histological techniques that involve processing, sectioning, and staining of tissue specimens that have been removed from humans by autopsy.
Clerical
The Clericals are responsible for entering the death certificate information in the Death Certificate State website. The Clerical also assists with documentation and documentation requests.
Doctor
Doctors are employees of the Medical Examiners Office. The Doctor is responsible for examining and autopsying the deceased to determine the cause of death.
